CoexisDance June 11th, July 23rd, and August 20th, 8 pm Members of Toronto's Association for Improvising Musicians (AIM) team up with dancers to create a series of improvisations: brave, playful and often magical. This series, begun by Colin Anthony and now curated by Rob Piilonen, is now in its tenth year and has become a worldwide phenomenon. Majlis is proud to host CoexisDance during the summer months. Messy Kween Collective: "Bodies Strange" June 27th - July 10th A troupe of 5 actors gather in a garden to present Kyle Capstick's probably impossible "Bodies Strange". Following a lover's departure for war a woman transforms into a tree and sets a family in a cycle of transformations that spans 3 generations. Bold and imaginative in its storytelling, Bodies Strange is a theatrical challenge. What's in the potion that Oberon gives his wife? Under the direction of Rosanna Saracino, the cast explores what drives them characters to the brink, and how they come back from it. A “dark” comedy that promises to leave the audience sitting slightly uneasy in their seats.
